What is a Bridge?

Dental bridges can be a consistent solution for prospective patients hoping to replace several missing teeth in one go - improving your smile and boosting your confidence. A bridge is a fixed replacement, utilising your existing teeth to form a “bridge” that covers any gaps. This process results in a dental solution that is entirely custom fit for each patient.

The most common type of dental bridge consists of two or more crowns, made of porcelain or metal, which are permanently bonded to natural teeth on either side of the space, which serve as anchors, with the false teeth in the middle filling the gap.

Whilst a bridge doesn’t always need dental implants if healthy teeth are in place, at 7oaks Clinic Advanced Dental Implants we offer a combined procedure, placing a bridge between two implanted teeth, thereby providing a permanent solution that can fill larger gaps in your smile than single implants or traditional bridges can offer. As our procedures do not rely on existing natural teeth, this opens up a greater range of treatment options for prospective patients

Dental Bridges and Same Day Dental Implants

Same day dental implant treatments can enable a patient to avoid dentures or missing teeth, and cut down on the number of procedures required to fully restore your smile by placing a restoration on an implant on the day of implant placement surgery.

For patients who are missing the top row of teeth or bottom and top rows of teeth, these implant treatments have some advantages over traditional dentures and traditional implants;

1. Treatment time - Traditional dental implants require several surgical procedures, taking place over a number of months including periods for healing between them.

2. Fewer procedures - During a traditional dental implant procedure, implants are placed within the jawbone - which can then take between three to six months for the gums to heal. However, further surgery is necessary to attach the dental crown to the first stage of the implant, necessitating further healing time.

3. Immediate results - Your implants and a full set of fixed teeth can be placed on the same day, with a temporary bridge supported by the new implants over the next several months.

4. Reduced costs - Multiple missing teeth can often be replaced using a bridge on implants, thereby reducing the cost, as not every tooth being replaced requires its own implant.
