Smile In A Day Procedures

An increasingly popular approach in dental implantology is to place a restoration on an implant on the day of implant placement surgery. This is often referred to as a Smile in a Day - or All on 4 - treatment. These dental implant treatments can enable a patient to avoid dentures or missing teeth, and cuts down on the number of procedures required to fully restore your smile.

For patients who are missing the top row of teeth or bottom and top rows of teeth, Smile-In-a-Day dental implants have some advantages over traditional dentures and traditional implants;

  • Treatment time - Traditional dental implants require several surgical procedures, taking place over a number of months including periods for healing between them.
  • Fewer procedures - During a traditional dental implant procedure, implants are placed within the jawbone - which can then take between three to six months for the gums to heal. However, further surgery is necessary to attach the dental crown to the first stage of the implant, necessitating further healing time.
  • Immediate results - Your implants and a full set of fixed teeth can be placed on the same day, with a temporary bridge for support the new implants over the next several months.
  • Reduced costs - Multiple missing teeth can often be replaced using a bridge on implants, thereby reducing the cost, as not every tooth being replaced requires its own implant.

Multiple Dental Implant Treatments

The loss of all of the teeth in an upper or lower jaw can be an extremely debilitating experience for anyone who has to go through it. Unfortunately, a denture of the required size can have a significant impact on an individual’s confidence and quality of life - this is where Smile in a Day implants step in.

Which solution is right for you depends on your dental needs and suitability for specific treatments, bone availability and the cost of treatment. Many patients about to lose their teeth have the option of a fixed temporary replacement on the same day as the teeth are extracted and implants placed, often called “Same Day Teeth” or “Teeth in a Day”, which also avoids the wearing of temporary dentures even during the treatment.

Smile in a Day allows patients to dramatically shorten the typical dental implant treatment of around 4 months into an efficient one-day procedure. It is a desirable option because the one-day treatment still achieves a high-quality result with the durability expected of a standard dental implant treatment.
